Blue Fern Studio Mistletoe and Holly Birthday Card

Welcome back and Nancy, here.  Needing a birthday card for this time of year.  Discover Blue Fern Studio Mistletoe and Holly collection that brings out our warmest childhood memories of baking delicious treats in the kitchen, a silent blanket of snow outside, and stockings filled with tasty surprises in rich and vintage colors.

My card measures 6" x 6" and there wasn't much need to embellish since the gorgeous pattern papers of vintage scenes were too beautiful to cover up. I used two of the single Blue Fern Studios - Mistletoe & Holly - 12 x 12 Chalet single cardstock and had some left over for a smaller card.   I just cut the size I needed for the front and added Nuvo Clear Glitter to the Ciao Bella Snowflake stencil and then NUVO Crystal Gloss White drops to the bottom of  cottages to the snow since I wanted the wintery snowy scene as well as bring out the gorgeous flowers found in the Blue Fern Studios - Mistletoe & Holly - Ephemera Pack #2 Frostings.

I used Scrapbook Adhesive 3D Foam Strips behind the flowers and pine cones to give it a raised appearance and used a hot glue gun to adhere the glittery white ribbon behind the chipboard flowers as well as some of the flowers on the edge of the card.  I added two Wild Orchid Craft little flowers and some tiny pine cones around the flowers for more of a 3D appearance.

Inside of the card, I cut out the patterned paper and adhere on both sides.  I typed out a sentiment, printed the fonts in dark brown and tore the edges of the paper with my fingers.  I sponged on with a brush the Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink - Gathered Twigs on the edges and used the Ranger Tim Holtz Spun Sugaon a rose stamp around the sentiment before gluing to the inside of the card.

Now, I have a wintery birthday card for this time of year to my special daughter.

Sizzix Tim Holtz Santa's Wishes

Santa Claus is Coming To Town!
Welcome back and Nancy, here.  Merry Christmas and hope you will have a wonderful holiday with family and friends this weekend.

I needed a card with Santa and feel in love with this Sizzix Tim Holtz Santa's Wishes Colorize Thinlits die set.  Putting all the layers together will end up into an adorable Santa that you can use in so may projects and your little ones will love it.

Santa's Wishes Assembling:
I like cutting the pieces one at a time rather than cut all of the pieces at once since it is very easy to have these tiny pieces get lost.  The beard has three die cut layers inaddition to adding on the very  tiny mustache.  I inked the top of the beard with Ranger Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide before assembling and then add the NUVO Clear glitter paste to the top of the beard and eye brows after the Santa was assembled.  This gives the completed appearance of a 3D vintage look and the clear glitter paste gives this Santa the Christmas dimensions and glow for a Christmas card.  Santa needed gold rimmed glasses so I cut the glasses with gold metallic cardstock.

Putting this Sizzix 3D Colorlit die set of Santa is fairly easy and Sizzix has a step-by-step video.  Also, I used package image as a guide for putting it all together.
  • Hat: Tried different ways but liked the top layer sponged with Ranger Lumberjack Plaid and then cut out.  The other two layers were a Deep Berry cardstock and a vivid Red cardstock.
  • Holly Leaves: Olive and sage green cardstock or used two green inked white cardstock and then cut each out and assemble.
  • Holly Berries: NUVO drops
  • Face: White cardstock and inked with Copic Markers E11 and then cut out.
  • Cheeks and Nose: White cardstock inked with Copic Markers R20 and then cut out.
  • Beard and Hat Trim: White cardstock with sponged edges of Ranger Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide, assemble the entire Santa and topped with NUVO Clear Glitter paste
  • Eyes: Black Cardstock
The card measures 5" x 7".  Assembled and glued with Beacon 3-n-1 Advanced Glue

1.  I liked using the shimmer white cardstock.  Cut out a 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" white cardstock and spray lightly behind the cardstock.  Place the embossing folder on top and run through the Sizzix Big Shot machine.

2.  Place the embossing folder on the bottom and only run through the Sizzix Big Shot machine half way through the cardstock.  This will emboss the other side of the paper without flatening the other side.

3.  Brush lightly  Ranger Peeled Paint and Ranger Pine Needle Distress Oxide inks to the raised side of the branches as well as brush the edges of the white cardstock.

I cut out a 5 x 7 inch patterned paper and adhere with Beacon 3-n-1 Advanced Glue to the base of the card and then centered the front to it.

I hope you enjoyed learning how this Santa Tag came to life. I can't wait to see what you create and share using the Santa's Wish Colorized die set.

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone I figured a final Christmas to close out 2022 would be appropriate for todays post.

So I created a slimline shaker using Stamperia “Cozy Winter” collection.

I used a slimline frame surrounded by leaves and colored the leaves using COPIC markers to match the shades in the collection
Next I took a piece of acetate and glued the frame to it so I could create a shaker card
I then added some glitter which has a look of snow to it perfect for the season right?! 🥰

Then I covered it with the slimline frame so I could decorate the front.  I diecut elements from the paper collection

Popped on a sentiment from the Laserowe collection “Winter Tales” and added some chipboard pieces to finish it off
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and well soon we shall bye  2022 and welcome 2023 stay tuned for what’s in store…

Sizzix Tim Holtz Harvey Christmas Cards

Welcome back and Nancy, here.  I'm sharing two of my Christmas cards I made for you of the Tim Holtz/Sizzix Christmas release using the Guardsman from the Harvey Colorize Thinlits. The minute I saw this set of Thinlits, I knew Harvey would be perfect to send Christmas wishes to all to my friends and family especially with children. I even made one Christmas card using this little toy soldier as a nutcracker.

Each card measures 5" x 7".  I added the new Tim Holtz Pine Branches embossing folder to the card above and will be showing more cards this season with the gorgeous pine branch embossing.  I used shimmer cardstock and used a snowflake embossing folder first on 4 1/2" X 6 1/2" cardstock and then used a brush to sponge on Ranger Distress Oxide Peeled Paint ink.  I tried other darker inks on my trial runs but liked the lighter color green with a touch of yellow.  I liked using the brush rather than a sponge this time.  I framed this card with gold metallic cardstock and Lawn Fawn Christmas paper.
This set of 19 Thinlits Dies, Harvey Colorize is designed by Tim Holtz and is part of the Christmas Collection for Sizzix.
In the beginning to understand how these pieces go together, I die-cut the base first and then the face.  I colored the face with Copic Markers rather than a solid cardstock and glued this on to the base before gluing the hat and die cuts on the hat. When cutting out the base, the face and other parts of the soldier is scored into the base cardstock so that you know perfectly where the face will be glued first.   After completing one toy soldier, I recommend to cut out the pants and shoes and glue to base before doing the jacket since the pants fit lightly under the jacket.  I found it very useful to have the picture of the solders from the package in front of me as a guideline.

I added the pearls to the buttons but the die set has a small die that is for the buttons and eyes.  If you are struggling with cardstock, I like sponging on ink on cardstock or using the Copic Markers for some of those pieces like sponging the front of the jacket with Distress Oxide Lumberjack Plaid ink before cutting it out.  I adhere a holly chipboard from the Tim Holtz Christmas Botanicals chipboard packet which the package is filled with stunning poinsettias and holly for that special Christmas embellishment.

I had the Graphic 45 Nutcracker carcstock so I used this for the Nutcracker theme.  I added the Tim Holtz Candy cane which has been my favorite embellishment for Christmas cards this year as well as Tim Holtz
